Background of the TaKeTiNa process
The TaKeTiNa process, developed in 1970 by Austrian composer and percussionist Reinhard Flatischler, combines principles and methodologies from various fields. Music, dance, communication, neurological research, and chaos theory are integrated to create a new process for learning. Reinhard Flatischler has further refined the TaKeTiNa process through many years of research and practice.

Learning
at the Edge of Chaos
The pulse of the bass drum stabilizes the basic rhythm of the steps while the claps follow a completely different rhythm. Ever-changing call-and-response singing introduces the element of improvisation and at the same time acts as a destabilizing factor. While the synergy of stabilization and destabilization causes individuals to lose the rhythm, or "fall out," the group continues, sustaining the rhythm and bringing everyone gently back to the basic pulse. In this moment, self-organization occurs and participants experience "falling back in." They are carried by the rhythm of the collective and naturally find their way back - a process that nourishes a profound sense of musical self-esteem. |

The Power of Simultaneity
During the TaKeTiNa process participants learn to create different rhythms on several levels at the same time. This naturally expands into an awareness of not only music - but also of daily life - from a different perspective. The active and passive, the rational and emotional, melodic and rhythmic layers are experienced as simultaneous. This awareness of simultaneity first creates independence in left-right/hand-foot movements, then opens gradually onto an entirely new kind of musical perception. |

to almost all musical forms on our planet. We find that the abundance
of different rhythm concepts are rooted in a matrix of rhythm and
movement archetypes. The TaKeTiNa process leads participants
to rediscover these primal rhythmic entities which are anchored
deep in the consciousness of all human beings. |

Joyful Repetition
TaKeTiNa gives a new meaning to "repetition,"
a necessary tool in any learning process. While the rhythms of the
voice and claps change frequently, the rhythm of the steps remains
unchanged. The constantly evolving rhythms provide an exciting journey,
while, at the same time, the step rhythm anchors the participants
and allows them to sink into deeper layers of their consciousness.
The basic steps act like a "door" which allows one, after
losing the rhythm, to re-enter the process. |
